Maintaining quality assurance for any type of software can be a challenge. KBC systems can be particularly challenging because they are designed to mimic deductive reasoning, not just perform calculations. Also, these systems are frequently modified. In fact, many KBC systems are designed to modify themselves, i.e. learn.

 

These and other characteristics of KBC systems require that special attention be paid to the quality assurance process. Innovative methods must be developed to establish and test the quality standards applied to these systems.
